A convicted child sex offender is back in court after driving drunk with a youth in the car – and now faces possible jail time.

On Monday, Antoni Jason Nduwimana appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court unrepresented after pleading guilty to a range of charges across 13 separate court files.

The court heard the 28-year-old carpentry apprentice had only recently been approved for taxpayer-funded Legal Aid, and he asked that submissions made to the court prior to his sentence be postponed.

“Finally you have a lawyer representing you, you have got an appointment … I am going to adjourn your matter one further time to speak with your lawyer,” Magistrate Lana Chester said.

Ms Chester told Nduwimana to ensure he maintained any upcoming appointments with his lawyer, but he would not receive any further time before all the charges against him were finalised.

Nduwimana has pleaded guilty to a range of offences including aggravated driving without due care, 26 counts of breaching bail, five counts of driving while disqualified and three counts of drink driving – one with a child under 16 in the car.

Nduwimana is yet to be sentenced for a raft of driving offences, 26 breaches of bail, and breaching his District Court sentence. Picture: Facebook

Nduwimana also entered a guilty plea to one count of failing to comply with breath analysis testing and failing to give particulars of a crash to a police officer.

The commission of one, or some, of these offences also breached a two year District Court suspended sentence bond that after his admission, could see him required to serve the entire sentence.

He was sentenced for two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under 17, and one count of unlawful intercourse with a person under 14.

Court records indicate a sentence of two years and two months with a non-parole period of 12 months was imposed for his offending.

Nduwimana will return to Elizabeth Magistrates Court in November and will appear in the District Court in answer to his bond at a later date.
