A man who allegedly shot a high-powered crossbow bolt at a suburban residence has pleaded not guilty.

Christopher Aaron Pedler, 41, appeared from custody in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to enter his pleas in relation to an alleged altercation in Aldinga Beach last year.

Mr Pedler, of Aldinga Beach, responded “not guilty Your Honour” when asked how he pleaded to one count each of carry an offensive weapon, use or have an offensive weapon and aggravated act likely to cause harm.

He was arrested after police responded to an incident on Thursday, October 17, where Mr Kristensen and the occupants of a Mazda-3 hatchback allegedly got into a dispute between 2.45pm and 3pm.

This, prosecutors said, culminated with the 41-year-old firing an arrow from a high-powered crossbow, which hit a nearby home.

The home’s occupants were not injured and there was no visible damage to the door.

At the time officers assured the public the incident was not random.

Crossbows are a prohibited weapon in South Australia, unless the owner has an exemption, which are issued for specific purposes only.

Other prohibited weapons include slingshots, pistol crossbows and extendible batons.

The use of crossbows to hunt and kill animals, including on private land, were outlawed this year by the state government.
