A man is in hospital after he was hit by a car outside a popular eastern suburbs hotel – forcing Kensington Rd to close – just minutes after a child was struck in a separate incident.

An elderly man and a school student have been struck by vehicles in separate incidents within minutes of each other.
Emergency services were called to Underdale High School on Garden Tce, Underdale, just after 9.30am with reports a child had been struck by a vehicle.
The Advertiser understands the teenager, a student at the school, only sustained minor injuries.
SA Health confirmed on Monday night that the teen had been transferred to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Minutes later, morning commuters reported an elderly man had been hit by a car near the Marryatville Hotel.
At about 9.50am, emergency services were called to a car and pedestrian incident on the corner of Kensington Rd and Dudley Rd, near the Marryatville Hotel.
Road users reported police and ambulances were at the scene.
An 82-year-old man was taken to the RAH in a stable condition.
Kensington Rd was temporarily closed in both directions between Portrush and Glynburn roads but has since reopened, and traffic has returned to normal.
