CCTV captures chilling moment man follows young woman before vicious attack at Para Vista

A man has been captured on CCTV following a young woman in the northeastern suburbs just moments before attempting to drag her into bushes in a chilling attack.

Police are hunting a man following a chilling assault on a young woman in the northeastern suburbs, after he was captured on CCTV following her just moments before the attack.

Security cameras captured the woman as she walked along Neville Ave, Para Vista at around 7.30pm on Monday, with the suspect following closely behind her.

He then approached her and asked for directions before attempting to drag her into some bushes at a reserve near the intersection of Warren Road and Hilliard Place.

The woman, who was not physically injured, yelled for help and the man fled, before police were called to canvas the area.

Para Vista resident Aiden O’Brien, who lives nearby, said he was surprised by the attack.

“It should not be happening, especially in such a quiet neighbourhood,” he told 7News.

“Nothing really happens here so it’s a big cause for concern.”

Detectives returned to the scene on Tuesday, where they combed the area looking for clues.

The man is described as being aged 20 to 25 years, 170cm tall with an olive/tanned complexion, clean shaven and shoulder length dark hair.
