Cassie Sainsbury says she will share “every step of her criminal activity” in a tell-all interview this weekend, but admits she lied in previous interviews.
As foreshadowed by The Advertiser, Sainsbury, 27, will feature on 7NEWS Spotlight at 8.40pm Sunday, after touching down at Adelaide Airport on Tuesday.
Ms Sainsbury arrived in Adelaide on Qantas flight 739 from Sydney with her wife Tatiana, with journalist Jonica Williams and a cameraman.
She declined to answer questions why she was in Adelaide for the first time since being caught attempting to smuggle 5.8kg of cocaine from Colombia on a flight back to Australia in 2017. The cocaine was hidden inside headphones, which she said were presents for her bridal party for her upcoming wedding.
The young woman spent three years in El Buen Pastor prison in Bogota, and a further three years on parole in Colombia where she met her now wife.
Now 7NEWS says Ms Sainsbury will “walk Australia through every step of her criminal activity” in an interview with Spotlight reporter Ross Coulthart.
The network says Ms Sainsbury has admitted she ied in previous interviews - she was interviewed in Nine Network’s 60 Minutes twice.
“In an interview full of shocks, award-winning reporter Ross Coulthart calls ‘Cocaine Cassie’ to account and finally gets to the terrible truth of how she played such a dangerous game,” a promo states.
Sainsbury is also said to speak about her relationship with Tatiana and their beach wedding.
Asked to confirm the agreement and if Sainsbury was being paid for an interview, Seven said it was unable to comment on Tuesday.
It is not yet known if Sainsbury’s sister Khala or mother Lisa will feature in the interview.
In a recent interview with The Advertiser, Sainsbury’s father Stuart, who is based in Warooka on the Yorke Peninsula, said he doubted his daughter will visit him on her trip to Adelaide.
“I don’t expect her to come up here. I don’t expect to see her. You can’t drag someone’s family through the dirt and not expect to be pissed off. If she wants to talk to me, she knows where I am. I’m not going to trash her,” he said.
