City traffic was thrown into chaos on Sunday after a ute slammed into a pole on a major road.
The Advertiser understands the driver of a blue Toyota ute suffered a medical episode as they were driving on West Tce, just after 12.30pm.
Police said the ute veered across traffic and collided with another car before it mounted the kerb and hit the pole.
The occupants of the second car, believed to be a family, were not injured in the collision.
An ambulance was called and the driver of the ute was taken to hospital.
West Tce has since been cleared with traffic moving normally.
