Several of the alleged dealers in a multi-state drug ring will face trial, while some have come clean on their roles in the operation.
On Thursday, eight of the nine alleged drug dealers arrested as part of Operation Stonewall, which targets the distribution of large amounts of cannabis and other drugs between Adelaide, NSW and Victoria, appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court.
The group were arrested after a multi-state police investigation allegedly uncovered more than 3.2kg of meth, 3L of meth oil, 32g and 4000 tablets of MDMA, half a kilo of cocaine and 4000 ecstasy tablets.
Following arrests in April 2023, SAPOL officers seized more than $300,000 in cash, five vehicles, a motorbike and a firearm.
In a complex hearing, Magistrate Brian Nitschke heard that multiple of the co-accused individuals needed more time before entering their pleas, some would be pleading not guilty while one would enter pleas of guilty.
Scott Roy Fahy, 49 of Modbury North, Jade Elizabeth Currie, 38 of Kilburn, James Charles Bray, 75 of Welland and Ezeddinn Minaoui, 40 of Manningham all entered not guilty pleas over their alleged involvement.
They all face at least one charge relating to trafficking a controlled drug, while the three men are also facing a charge relating to money laundering.
They will be arraigned to face trial in July.
Stephen Ey, for Matthew Peter Ryan, 49 of Sellicks Hill, stood with his client as he entered guilty pleas to four charges – joining the three charges he previously pleaded guilty to.
All seven of the charges relate to trafficking in controlled drugs.
Counsel for Roberto Luigi Rillotta, 45 of Beaumont, charged with two charges relating to large commercial quantity of a controlled drug, asked for a date to be fixed to argue there was no case to answer against their client.
Mr Rillotta will return to court later this month to make his submissions.
Counsel for Frank Migliarese, 46 of Gilles Plains, Andrew David Lee, 45 of Craigmore and Nathan Alan Miller, 38 of Morphett Vale, said they required more time to take instructions from their clients because further material had been disclosed by prosecution.
They will return to court in May.
Duane Barry Wade, 57 of Whyalla Sturt – the ninth man of the group – previously pleaded guilty to three charges relating to trafficking in controlled substances and one firearms charge.
He was arraigned in January to face sentencing submissions later this year.
