A woman who allegedly stole – and then returned – up to $30,000 worth of property from a Lockleys Airbnb has been identified in court.
Carley May Molnar, 36, appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court for the first time after her arrest in June.
Ms Molnar, of Findon, is yet to enter a plea to one count of dishonestly dealing with property without consent.
It is alleged Ms Molnar stayed at the property between Thursday, May 29, and Saturday, May 31, where audio equipment, a gaming console, jewellery and clothing were stolen.
Court documents released to The Advertiser allege the value of the stolen property ranged between $2500 and up to $30,000, and included power tools and clothing.
The property owner, John Dawe, told 9News Adelaide he did not realise items were missing had been allegedly stolen until days later.
“I actually had no idea for a couple of days, (as) the guest left the house in perfect condition apart from moving all my furniture around,” he said.
Mr Dawe’s daughter, Kayley, was the one to alert her father after noticing items like her Nintendo gaming console and record player were missing.
After Mr Dawe checked the house and discovered more expensive items were missing, the guest was contacted through Airbnb to seek the items’ return.
Mr Dawe told 9News an hour after a phone call, some of the items were returned, but thousands of dollars of property were allegedly still missing.
Magistrate Aaron Almeida adjourned the matter to return to court later this month.
