Adelaide’s north: Three teenage boys arrested for stealing cars

Three boys including one as young as 14 were arrested after stealing cars and sparking a chase in Adelaide’s north. A resident has told of how he came across the thieves.

A man came home to teenagers rummaging through his home while family members slept inside at Craigmore.

Milad Safdari told 7NEWS he arrived at his Phillip Aave home about 1am Thursday and saw people inside he didn’t know.

“I just saw two people running, I said ‘Oh god, hopefully my family is safe,’” he said.

The suspects, who were teenage boys, took off in two family cars parked in the driveway.

The Toyota Yaris was found abandoned in the middle of the Park Lake Boulevard at Blakeview.

Later that hour a HiLux was spotted on Adams Rd and was pursued briefly before it was terminated for safety reasons.

It was later spotted again on Black Top Rd, and travelled on through to Target Hill Rd and the Golden Way at Greenwith where it was spiked.

The car stopped soon after on Cobbler Drive where four people ran from the car.

A Blakeview man, 15, a Kilburn boy, 15, and a Craigmore boy, 14, were arrested.

A fourth offender remains on the run.

All three teens were arrested and charged with a raft of traffic offences and will appear in court at various times.

The stolen cars were seized and will be forensically examined.

It comes after victim heroically tried to stop a car thief at Hackney.

The man’s Richmond St cabin within a caravan park was broken into about 1.45am Thursday and keys to a grey Nissan Navara were taken.

The victim tried to grab the suspect, but he ran away and drove off in the car, smashing through the boom gates of the caravan park.

The suspect was wearing a hooded jumper, face mask and gloves.
