Adelaide businessman Solomon Farah faces eight new charges including child sexual abuse

An Adelaide businessman who previously complained about media coverage has been charged with child sexual abuse dating back decades.

A well-known South Australian businessman has been hit with eight fresh charges as he faced court on Monday charged with several sexual offences including sexual abuse of a child.

Solomon Farah, 67, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday where a court heard the former businessman had been charged with new offences — some of the allegations dating back almost 20 years.

Mr Farah, of Oakden, has now been charged with three counts of indecent assault and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse dating back to the mid-2000s.

The businessman has also been charged with adult sexual abuse of a child in 2014, adult sexual abuse of a child in 2023 and aggravated indecent assault in 2023.

Andrew Ey, for Mr Farah, applied for home detention bail — with conditions mirroring his current bail — and withdrew the application to remove home detention bail on his other files, which were also before the court.

Prosecution did not oppose the application.

The court heard Mr Farah, who used to work for CIBO Espresso, was previously charged with multiple counts of indecent assault after allegedly luring seven women into his Currie St business, the Skin Fit Co., claiming he was interviewing them for prospective jobs.

The 67-year-old appeared in court last week where he argued that any alleged touching of the women was “plainly consensual”.

He also told the court his business and reputation has been “extremely damaged” by media coverage.

Last week, Andrew Ey, for Mr Farah, asked the court for his client to be allowed to attend his former business address with removalists to “clean the premises out”.

The court heard Mr Farah no longer wished to pursue the business any longer due to the significant media coverage his case had received.

Mr Ey also asked for Mr Farah’s home detention conditions to be removed, arguing that some of the alleged victims’ statements showed the contact was consensual.

Mr Farah is also charged with multiple counts of indecent assault, for the alleged offences dated between January 5, 2023 and February 2, 2024.

He is yet to enter any pleas.

Mr Farah will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court for the new charges in October.
