The man accused of murdering Steven Murphy has abandoned his bail bid over the firearm used in, and the drug crop found at the scene of, the alleged “cold-blooded execution”.
The Elizabeth Magistrates Court has also heard Keith Russell Yandle’s various charges, over alleged events at his Kudla property, will be merged into a single case against him.
Now sporting a full beard, Yandle made a brief appearance in court on Thursday by video link.
Mr Yandle, 46, of Kudla, was arrested on April 3 and charged with drug and firearms offences.
At that time, police alleged they found 20 cannabis plants being hydroponically grown in a rear shed, along with an unlicensed .22 rifle and ammunition.
Days later, he and his son Marco Anthony Yandle, 19, were jointly charged with the murder of missing man Steven Murphy, whose body was found beneath the shed.
In court on Tuesday, prosecutors alleged Marco shone a torch on a “cowering, defenceless” Mr Murphy while Keith shot at him up to four times from about 2m away.
Prior to being charged with murder, Keith Yandle had applied for home detention bail over the firearm and drugs charges.
The Elizabeth Magistrates Court had ordered a report from the Department for Correctional Services to assess the suitability of his residence, and whether or not he could be GPS tracked while living there.
On Thursday, Stephen Ey, for Yandle, told the court that report would no longer be necessary.
“Due to the circumstances, we will not be pursuing the application for bail,” he said.
“We ask this be adjourned until October to join my client’s other matters in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.”
Yandle was remanded in custody.
