Detectives are investigating after a woman’s body was found inside a house in Brompton.
Police say they were called to the property on Tabard Ave on Saturday, about 3pm.
Detectives from Western District CIB and Forensic Response are investigating the circumstances of her woman’s death.
They stayed at the scene ahead of a post-mortem being conducted on Sunday.
“At this time police need to conduct further investigation to determine if the death is suspicious, self-inflicted or through natural causes,” SA Police said.
Neighbour Marian Gronthsos said she had been living next door to the woman for about two years and she felt “spooked” after learning of her death.
She said the woman and her partner were generally quiet and stuck to themselves but they had never really spoken to them much.
“I just knew her as an acquaintance. She is very private, there were never any visitors there and she just kept to herself.
“She was a doctor and that’s really all I know.”
Another neighbour told The Advertiser on Sunday that ambulances and sirens were a common occurrence on Tabard Ave as another resident often required medical attention at least “once a week”.
“When we heard the sirens we all ignored it,” she said.
When police came knocking on her door to ask about the woman’s body she was “shocked”.
“She was as quiet as a mouse,” the neighbour said.
“The only time I saw her is when she was in her front yard and I was walking my dog.”
The resident, who preferred not to be named, said she hoped police would soon provide more information on the cause of her neighbour’s death.
“It’s really freaking scary because you don’t know,” she said.
“Once they release information things might be different.”
The neighbour said the woman had been living on the street for the past decade and was likely in her 50s.
The Tabard Ave resident said more than a dozen police officers swarmed the street, looking through bins and questioning residents.
Another Brompton resident said the death was a huge “shock”.
“The only thing that’s happened (in this neighbourhood) is a stolen car hit about mid-last year,” he said.
