A West Lakes man who allegedly reversed into a police officer with a stolen SUV, dragging her for several metres, is too injured to face court.

Sarantis Parissos, 38, was due to face the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link from hospital, however the duty solicitor told Magistrate Jayanthi McGrath she had not been able to speak to Parissos.

“He is still quite heavily medicated, still in a lot of pain and is still awaiting surgery,” she said.

The court heard there was no indication whether Parissos would apply for bail.

Parissos was charged with two counts of endangering life, dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit, and a raft of other offences after a series of incidents on Monday afternoon.

Just before 4pm, police spotted a stolen black SUV speeding along Sir Donald Bradman Drive near Lockleys.

The PolAir helicopter followed it through backstreets from above before directing patrols to Merlin Rd.

A female police officer was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a leg injury after she was struck by the vehicle and dragged for several metres at Fulham Gardens.

She is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the SUV, alleged to be Parissos, dumped the vehicle a short time later near Grange Rd before running off.

Police confronted a man who then ran into the path of oncoming traffic and was struck by a car.

He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken under police guard to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Parissos is expected to face court later this week.
