Wing It Sports Bar (formerly Jack Ruby’s) has kept the original bar and floors intact, but the exposed brick walls of the subterranean space are laden with sports memorabilia.

Ten flat-screen televisions cover a slew of Australian and American sports.

Co-owner and sports super-fan Tomas Smith, from La Rambla Tapas Bar and Therapy Cocktail Bar, was inspired to set up the sports bar after travelling through North America.

“It just seemed to be completely missed, we didn’t have it in Adelaide at all,” Tomas says.

Opened last Wednesday, the menu features an American twist on chicken wings that you won’t find elsewhere in the city.

Chef Winston Halliday hails from Florida with Caribbean heritage and “absolutely loves cooking wings,” Tomas says.

The chickens are locally sourced, grain-fed and free-range.

If wings aren’t your thing, satisfy your cravings with loaded fries topped with slow-cooked hot and spicy chicken, sour cream, jalapeños, lime and guacamole.

Not a meat-eater? Almond milk cauliflower wings ($9/$13) can be accompanied by any of eight sauces.

There’s an exclusively South Australian wine list, while the beer list is primarily American and Australian.

The bar has partnered with the Hutt St Centre and will donate all profits from the pool table and Coors beer to the homelessness organisation.
