Greenhill Wines in Summertown will take visitors on a madcap adventure next weekend when it holds an Alice in Wonderland-themed event as part of the wine region’s annual Crush Festival.
The Mad Hatter’s Picnic will be one of about 50 events across 30 venues as part of the three-day food and wine festival, starting Friday.
Greenhill Wines co-owner and cook Penny Henschke said their ticketed event, running on the Saturday and Sunday, would include a lunch that “might encourage you to experience food and wine in a slightly different way”.
“The food might seem to be one thing when it is something else,” Ms Henschke said. “For instance, what can be served in a glass upside-down? You will have to come to find out.”
Crush organiser Kerry Treuel hopes more than 20,000 people will attend the festival, which she said boasted one of its most diverse programs yet.
“It will be three days of Adelaide Hills wine, produce, music, theatre, the whole lot,” she said.
