IN a gesture of support for Australian strawberry farmers, one brewer has launched a new strawberry beer.

Lady Burra Brewhouse, a microbrewery in Adelaide city, released its Strawberries and Cream Beer yesterday.

Lady Burra’s head brewer Eliot Kirby said the result is berry good.

“We added 20kg of fresh strawberries to a brew of session ale after four days of primary fermentation,” he said.

“The process creates a brew featuring a strong strawberry nose, mildly bitter, with a refreshing strawberry tartness and a creamy finish. It is perfect… for the warmer weather.”

And there’s more than just beer to help the farmers. From every pint of strawberry beer sold over the bar, Lady Burra Brewhouse will donate $1 to Aussie Helpers, a Queensland-based charity to support those affected by the drought.

The strawberry brew will be on tap at the Topham Mall brewhouse for a limited time.
