THE self-described sommeliers of comedy, Paul Calleja and Damian Callinan, feel right at home at the National Wine Centre.
In town with their hit show, The Wine Bluffs, at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, the popular duo were only too happy to uncork a local drop or two before their visit came to a sudden end.
“I assume we were invited to the wine centre to be inducted into some Hall of Fame or become life members, which made it even more surprising that we were charged an entrance fee,” Paul tells Confidential.
“The venue was amazing and super fun until we got kicked out for putting some of our posters up.”
It’s been a busy few days for Paul and Damian, who also hosted the Adelaide Cabaret Festival dinner this week, where they met another wine legend, SA’s Grant Burge.
“To meet Grant, who is an icon of the Australian wine industry, we were pretty excited about that. We can only assume he felt the same way about meeting us,” Paul says.
“We had a quick
chat about potential collaborations that he said he’d get back to us on, which is pretty much a ‘yes’ as far as we’re concerned.”
