A disturbing video has emerged showing a group of neo-Nazis burning an Aboriginal flag and targeting an Indigenous Victorian senator with a sick racial slur.

The group, who call themselves the ‘Warriors of Convict Resistance’, uploaded a video to YouTube reading an unsettling racist statement before burning the Aboriginal flag and doing a Nazi salute.

The start of the video showed two men dressed in all black and wearing face coverings. One of the men held a British flag as the other read from a piece of paper.

“Our forefathers did invade this land, in fact, they conquered it. The prize was the big red country, and our enemy is the Aboriginal,” the reader said.

“The distinct difference was that our forefathers had the knowledge and the understanding of land ownership, a concept Aboriginals did not, and still do not seem to understand.”

He continues: “The message to be extracted here is that the Aboriginal people are not special in any way, shape or form, far from it. They are simply another name in a very long list of people’s that our forefathers have conquered.”

The speaker said they were burning the Aboriginal flag in order to “offend the cultural sensitivity” of First Nations people and to”make you feel the same pain and anger we feel when we see our flag being burnt”.

The rambling, racist speech went on for about ten minutes, finishing with the line: “Understand this land belongs to and is a part of white Australia”.

They set fire to the flag and another masked man joined the first two men in a Nazi salut.

Behind the men, a hand drawn sign with a racial slur could be seen singling out Victorian Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe.

In a statement, Senator Thorpe told news.com.au that she and her team were aware of the “very violent and distressing video” circulating online.

“The rise of white supremacists and their ongoing threats to parliamentarians must be taken seriously,” she said.

“This particular video has been raised with the relevant law enforcement agencies and we will allow them to undertake their work.”

The self-described ‘president’ of the Warriors for Convict Resistance goes by the online pseudonym John Dixon.

On Tuesday he made a Twitter post vowing to continue with more stunts, despite claims he was being investigated.

“Dear vicpol asio and traitors. You burnt our flag we burn yours. Yet when we do it we are being investigated,” he wrote.

Dixon claimed the group never made threats to Senator Thorpe, they “just racially abused her”, which he claimed “she deserved”.

“We look forward to being (sic) more flags of our enemies. Branches of WACR are spreading.”

An Australia Federal Police (AFP) spokesperson said they could not confirm whether this group was being investigated.

“The AFP and its partners in the Joint Counter Terrorism Teams continue to take all individuals or groups with extremist beliefs who show support for, or a tendency towards violence, seriously,” the spokesperson said.

“The AFP targets criminals and criminal activity, not ideologies or backgrounds.

“The AFP does not confirm or deny if individuals or groups are the subject of ongoing investigations.”

Far-right extremism is a growing problem in Australia, with out spy agency, ASIO, last year saying it was “approaching 50 per cent of our priority counter-terrorism onshore caseload”.

The Victorian parliament’s legal and social affairs committee is also launching an inquiry into the growing treat of far right extremism, with the state also working on new laws to ban the display of Nazi symbols in public.
