New Hisense 4K projector brings 200 inch viewing to your home
For much less than a premium TV, this mighty mini projector beams vibrant, sharp 4K images anywhere you want.
If you’re after vivid, vibrant and affordable 4K video with a screen size of up to 200 inches, Hisense’s new mini projector might be just your ticket to cinema on the go.
We’ve been putting the M2 Pro 4K TriChroma Laser Mini Projector to the test for the past few weeks and have been really impressed by not only the Dolby Vision quality but also the sound.
This is a projector which is small enough to take out in the backyard, on a camping trip, set up on the deck or even watch from your bed straight up onto your ceiling.
It can be mounted from a ceiling or just put on a small table beside your favourite chair, as we did.
And as long as the sun is going down, the 1300 ANSI Lumens brightness will be enough to beam your favourite movie, sporting event, video game or even some nice artwork.
The Hisense projector combines good hardware with some clever AI to ensure sharp, life-like images, while the operating system is one of the best we’ve used, offering everything all your favourites like Netflix, Apple TV, Binge, Tubi, YouTube, Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Stan, Prime, Disney+ straight out of the box. (Subscription required of course).
The M2 Pro uses more than 2 million micro mirrors powered by digital light processing (DLP) technology to produce its images.
Hisense says it also uses AI 4K Clarity to enhance every pixel.
The triple colour laser combination produces some of the most vivid imaging we’ve seen on a projector. The reds are super red, particularly on the menu.
The picture quality is not as good as a top of the range TV but for the price, it arguably offers a lot more bang for buck, especially given its portability and flexibility.
It’s a great option for a second TV or even a main TV if you want more flexibility.
We set ours up in a front room with just a pull-down blind as the projector screen.
The set up was easy. Connecting it to power and your WI-FI and then you just change the settings for your screen size you want.
If you are really fussy, there are whole lot of options you can change in the menu system.
To make it easier, it comes with auto keystone correction and auto screen fit, to ensure you get well framed images while auto focus ensures a sharp picture.
It will even adjust to your wall colour and if you bump or move the projector it can be set to autocorrect.
However, if you are out camping, and using your projector on a slope, manual adjustment is required.
Watching movies, the skin tones were very accurate, not over saturated, while watching sport the detail was pretty incredible especially during close up shots.
Most of the time we were testing it at about 65 inches, the limit of our window frame in the front room.
But swivelling it straight up to the ceiling on the stand we could take advantage of the maximum 200-inch size, which was pretty impressive.
It also has an optical zoom of a 1.0 to 1.3 throw ratio, meaning you can get true 4K without losing the detail.
The M2 Pro is larger and more solid than the projector I normally use which means the built in sound quality is a lot better, though most of the time I use headphones or earbuds which can be connected via bluetooth.
The sound setup comes with Dolby Audio & DTS Virtual X sound from dedicated tweeters and woofers. The speaker system is not overly powerful but more than adequate for a media room.
The Hisense M2 Pro uses a new Smart by VIDAA operating system which it very easy to use while the well size remote has buttons for instant access to Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Disney+ along with input, volume, brightness, mute, voice control and a directional pad for easy navigation across your onscreen options.
There’s also 3D functionality though you will need to purchase your own 3D glasses.
HDMIs and USB ports allow you to sync up your gaming consoles, soundbars and other devices while you can also connect your phone or tablet to check out your own photos or video on the big screen.
I’m sure the kids would love a slide slow of your trip photos. Okay maybe not.
With a price tag under $2500, the Hisense M2 Pro 4K TriChroma Laser Mini Projector is a great option for someone looking for quality vision and sound as well as portability and value for money.
