FORGET Eminem’s freestyle taking aim at Donald Trump, Samsung’s take-down of Apple is now the dis of the year.
During NFL broadcasts, Samsung released a 60 second commercial brutally mocking customers of its archrival Apple.
The commercial, called “Growing Up,” followed a longtime Apple fan named Erik who’s been buying iPhones for the last decade.
Going through 10 years of iPhone criticism, the commercial highlighted every time the Apple fan had been disappointed with his device.
The commercial begins in 2007 as Erik buys the first-generation iPhone. We next see him in 2010 when he is suffering storage issues.
In 2013, he meets his girlfriend Lauren. While exchanging numbers, he is disappointed by his iPhone 5 when compared to the screen size and stylus of her Galaxy Note 3.
In 2016, Erik and Lauren both fall into a lake. Lauren’s Samsung phone survives the dip, while Erik’s iPhone gets a fast and desperate trip to a bowl of rice.
In 2017, we are shown Erik using a messy dongle and cables to connect his headphones and charger to his iPhone 7, while Lauren uses wireless charging for her device.
Not surprisingly, Samsung neglected to include the scene where Lauren’s Galaxy Note 7 blew up in her hands before a global recall.
The commercial nears the end with Erik finally switching to a Galaxy Note 8, using the stylus to send his girlfriend a message.
After switching to his Samsung, Erik walks past customers waiting for the iPhone X and Samsung’s uses it most savage attack yet.
Right around the 52-second mark, we see an Apply fanboy in line with a haircut that mimics the infamous “notch” at the top of the iPhone X screen.
