CCTV catches moment inflatable Christmas decoration was stolen

A pair of brazen grinches have stolen an inflatable Christmas dog decoration from the front yard of a house in Melbourne’s west.

The Christmas thieves rode into the front yard of the Hoppers Crossing property and then, without stopping, grabbed the inflatable dog and rode off.

CCTV captured the entire theft, which took less than three seconds.

The pair then rode off along Parkside Walk towards Carruthers Drive with the inflatable flapping along behind them.

Police said the theft occurred about 10am on November 26.

The scooter, with registration 1Z4FY, is believed to have been stolen from an address in Hoppers Crossing the day before.

Investigators released CCTV footage of the theft on Friday in the hope that someone recognised the pair.

Police are looking for two men – the rider was wearing black clothing and a black helmet, while the passenger has been described as caucasian and was wearing black clothing and a red helmet.

The inflatable dog was a tan colour with a red and white Christmas hat and blue and green presents on its back.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
