THE Kalangadoo Magpies’ A-grade netball team continued its impressive run of grand final wins after downing the Tantanoola Tigers on Saturday in the Mid South East Netball Association’s grand final.
After beating the Tigers 52-44 in Glencoe, Kalangadoo celebrated its 25th consecutive grand final appearance by holding the MSENA’s shield aloft for the 33rd time in the club’s history.
Since 1961, the club has won more than half of all grand finals ever contested in the association.
It’s been unprecedented success for the Magpies, who have appeared in every A-grade grand final since 1994, losing only in 2002, 2009 and 2011, making the weekend’s win their seventh consecutive premiership.
In a wet and cold afternoon, the Pies’ goal shooter — Abbey Duncan — was named best on court.
Kalangadoo A-grade team manager, Judy Hill, said the club’s success was founded on its family-oriented culture that encouraged the development of its juniors.
