Don't miss out on the headlines from Tour Down Under. Followed categories will be added to My News.
THE famous Norton Summit makes its long-awaited debut in the TDU but don’t expect it to decide the race.
The climb greets riders early on Stage 4, which doubles as the Bupa Challenge Tour route.
The beachside finish in Victor Habor is pancake flat, so another day for the sprinters awaits, before they’re fighting for their lives on Willunga 24 hours later.
Stage 4 — a 138km trek — starts with a 4.4km race neutral section from The Parade at Norwood to Magill Rd, Magill, before the Norton Summit climb.
The route will take riders from The Parade (leaving at 11.30am) through Summertown, Stirling, Mylor, Echunga, Meadows, Macclesfield, Strathalbyn, Currency Creek, Goolwa, Middleton and Port Elliot.
There will be sprints at Strathalbyn Rd, Mylor, and Cadell St, Goolwa, with a King of the Mountain climb at Crows Nest Rd, Port Elliot, in between.
Expect the winning rider to cross the finish line, on The Esplanade, Victor Harbour, just after 3.05pm.
