Nick Kyrgios left out of Australia’s Davis Cup team to face Bosnia

They may have held peace talks after Nick Kyrgios’ inappropriate use of social media, but Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt is still not ready to welcome him into the team.

Nick Kyrgios has been left out of Australia’s Davis Cup squad to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Adelaide next month.

While the squad is yet to be confirmed by Australian captain Lleyton Hewitt, Kyrgios will be absent from the February 1-2 tie despite being available for selection.

Alex de Minaur, John Millman, Alex Bolt, John Peers and Alexei Popyrin are all in contention for selection.

Kyrgios and Hewitt are understood to have shared positive discussions at Melbourne Park over the past week when Kyrgios’ use of social media was raised.

Kyrgios’ non-selection leaves de Minaur to pilot singles duties, while a doubles team is likely to built around Peers, subject to form.

Australia is among 24 nations bidding for 12 spots in the November 18-24 finals in Spain.

Under the revamped rules of the competition, six nations have already qualified for the week-long play-offs – defending champion Croatia, France, Spain, Great Britain, US and Argentina.

Ties are now decided by two singles matches and a doubles rubber, both played over best-of-three sets, instead of five rubbers decided by best-of-five.
