Fan proposes to Ash Barty at Adelaide International

It is fair to say Ash Barty is truly loved by the Australian public after one cheeky fan hoped to capitalise on her winning the Adelaide International by asking the World No. 1 to marry him.
The 23-year-old won her first title on Australian soil, after twice finishing runner-up in Sydney, with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska.

And after the match when Barty was signing autographs and posing for selfies with her legion of adoring fans, one took it a bit further.
“Will you marry me Ash,” the man is heard in a video posted on the Adelaide International’s Twitter profile.
“I can’t do that sorry my friend,” she replied.
When asked about the marriage proposal during her post match media conference, Barty said she enjoyed the “banter” with fans.

“It was my first marriage proposal,” she said.
“I said “mate I’m not really available at the moment” but it is incredible the support I get from the Aussie fans.
“And I love that there is a little bit of Aussie humour as well.
“I love that banter but sorry mate not this time.”
Barty will be hoping to take her winning form into the Australian Open, which begins on Monday.
She faces World No. 120 Lesia Tsurenko on Monday night on Rod Laver Arena.
