Champion jockey Damien Oliver is faced with contrasting barriers in search of more Group 1 success in Adelaide in Saturday.

Oliver, who boasts an amazing 112 Group 1 wins, is drawn perfectly in barrier three in the $500,000 Australasian Oaks (2000m) where he will ride Victorian filly and favourite Princess Jenni.

His job will be more difficult in the $600,000 Sangster Stakes (1200m) where dual Group 1 runner-up Spright is faced with the extreme outside gate after drawing 15.

Oliver is chasing his fourth Adelaide Oaks success after winning with Mannerism for Lee Freedman back in 1991, Episode for former Adelaide trainer David Hall in 1999 and Tully Thunder (Ross McDonald) in 2002.

He’s a dual Sangster Stakes winner aboard Alinghi for Lee Freedman in 2005 and Secret Agenda (Mick Price) in 2017.

Princess Jenni remains a solid $4.20 favourite following the draw while the Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained Amangiri ($4.40) is set to challenge for favouritism after drawing perfectly in barrier two.

Amangiri finished runner-up in the Group 3 Adrian Knox at Randwick two starts back before running sixth in the Group 2 Frank Packer Plate last start with leading local hoop Todd Pannell booked to ride.

David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig accepted with four runners in three-year-old fillies feature and all four drew awkwardly.

Qafila (Jamie Kah) will jump from barrier 17, Zargos (Harry Coffey) drew the outside in 20, second emergency Prism drew barrier 19 while Ben Allen will ride Seewhatshebrings, who drew gate 12.

Former local hoop Dwayne Dunn will partner Victoria Oaks winner Aristia who drew perfectly in barrier six in the Oaks, while he rides Bella Martini who will jump from the inside gate (one) in the Sangster.

Western Australian mare Lady Cosmology was another to draw wide in the Sangster and will start from gate 14 with Luke Currie booked to ride.

Tony McEvoy’s Cool Passion drew perfectly in barrier four while star local rider Jamie Kah will jump from barrier two aboard Princess Of Queens for Mick Price chasing his fifth win the race.

Price’s second Sangster runner, three-year-old filly Anjana, will jump from barrier nine with Michael Dee to ride.

Spright remains a $4 Sangster favourite despite the tricky barrier while Cool Passion and Thrillster share the second line of betting at $6.
