Racing returns to Sandown on Wednesday and Herald Sun tipster Gilbert Gardiner has picked out his best bets on the card.
SANDOWN
BEST BET
TRIPLE STRIP $6 (R6 No. 11)
Forget she went around in a contentious race at Caulfield a fortnight ago, when the long-priced leaders bolted on the heavy conditions. Ex-Tasmanian galloper primed to hit back third up.
NEXT BEST
AQUAGIRL $5.50 (R2 No. 1)
A promising filly, who won at Flemington in her first preparation, resumes at Sandown and should be ultra-competitive today.
VALUE BET
HASSLEFREE $12 (R4 No. 2)
Won with authority at Bendigo first up from a spell and could go on with the job with apprentice Will Price claiming three kilograms. Drawn to get a nice run. Each-way all day.
ZIZZIS $9.50 (R8 No. 11)
Get back run on type that needs things to go her way to win, but capable of a huge finish when right. Has won third up before and there looks to be enough speed to upfront to be in with a fighting chance.
THE JOCKEY
THOMAS STOCKDALE
Young gun with a bright future has a strong book of rides, including three for the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young yard – MELBA STORM (R1 No. 7 $3.50), LA LUCCIOLA (R4 No. 11 $11), TAVIRUN (R6 No. 3 $7), DESERT REALM (R7 No. 11 $8) and IKNEWSHEWASMINE (R8 No. 5 $5).
