DIGBY Ioane has met with Victorian police to settle on a revised date for a court appearance after the Wallaby missed his initial appointment, resulting in a warrant for his arrest being issued.

Ioane will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 6 - three days after the Super Rugby final in which he hopes to play in with the Queensland Reds.

Tuesday's meeting with police dealt with Monday's embarrassment when an arrest warrant was automatically issued when Ioane did not appear in court when summonsed to appear on a charge of unlawful assault.

The case stems from a pub drama over a mobile phone in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran on March 9 when he was on the fringes of a scuffle involving one of his brothers and a Melbourne man who suffered a minor leg injury.

A small labral tear in Ioane's shoulder joint has rendered his right arm largely immobile. He was a spectator at Wallabies training on Monday and was ruled out of the series later that day.

He will have further scans which will hopefully rule out surgery and give him a shot at playing again for the Reds before he starts a career in France with Paris club Stade Francais later this year.

The Reds play their final Super Rugby match of the regular season against the NSW Waratahs in Sydney on July 13 when the make-up of the top six for the three-week finals series will be decided.
