FORMER Waratah cult hero Jacques Potgieter will return to Allianz Stadium as one of the headline acts for the Barbarians when they take on the Wallabies in Sydney on October 28.

Former Wallabies coach Alan Jones, who will make his return to international coaching with the BaaBaas after a 30-year absence, named a partial squad at a press conference with rival clipboard holder Michael Cheika.

With provincial comps in New Zealand and South Africa still underway, the Barbarians squad has a very Australian flavour, with eight ex-Western Force players, several fringe Wallabies candidates and captain Quade Cooper.

As previously reported, the squad also contains Warringah’s Sam Ward after he was voted in by the public.

The international contingent contains All Black George Moala, Auckland halfback Augustine Pulu and elusive Samoan fullback Tim Nanai-Williams.

There is a strong chance more foreign players will join the squad when players not required for the Currie Cup and Mitre Ten Cup finals become available.

Former Wallabies backrower Luke Jones will return from France to play for the Barbarians on their two-match tour. They play the Classic Wallabies on Tuesday on October 24 in Lismore before taking on the Wallabies.

Several Barbarians players will use the game to press their claims to Cheika ahead of the Spring Tour, including Brumbies captain Sam Carter.

Rising stars like Tom Banks and Taniela Tupou will also use the big stage to show their talents.
