Round 5 Teams of the Week: Colts 1, Hospital Cup, Premier Women

Club rugby round 5: Who made the Hospital Cup, Premier Women and Colts 1 Teams of the Week? It includes an inspiring Wests captain, a five try hero from Brothers and exciting Norths youngsters.

To celebrate another bumper round of club rugby in Queensland, we name three Teams of the Week filled to the brim with talent.

In the StoreLocal Hospital Cup, Wests returned from a bye with a win, seeing them sit three points clear of Brothers at the top of the table.

AIC FIRST XV RUGBY ROUND 2: HOW IT ALL UNFOLDED

Brothers got back to their winning ways with a win over Sunnybank, Bond University dealt with GPS at home and Easts earned their first win over the season defeating University on David Wilson Field.

In Premier Women action, Bond University, Wests and Sunnybank showed why they were frontrunners for this year’s premiership, while Easts proved they should not be discounted with a 17-5 taming of University at home.

The young Bulldogs followed suit of their first grade side, winning their fourth straight victory to lead the Colts 1 competition as four entertaining matches unfolded across South East Queensland.

GPS, University, and Brothers were joined them in the winners column after round five.

PREMIER WOMEN ROUND FIVE TEAM OF THE WEEK

Despite Sunnybank’s wrecking ball performance in beating 83-nil, emerging from the debris was Brothers No.8 Doreen Narokete.

The young Fijian was absolutely outstanding taking on the Dragons forwards with his runs, and defending against Sunnybank’s relentless onslaught.

She would make any rival side in the competition and Brothers were lucky to have her leading the way.

Speaking of fortunate, the Dragons have a good one in outside centre Amanii Misa.

Match hardened coming off an outstanding club rugby league competition with Souths Logan where she played in the forwards, the former Queensland schoolgirls league representative ruled the roost at centre.
