Prince William and Kate watch try-scoring king Israel Folau lead Waratahs to win over Bulls at Allianz Stadium
THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were on hand to watch Israel Folau make a royal return to Super Rugby for the Waratahs in Sydney.
TRY-scoring king Israel Folau has made a royal return to Super Rugby to lead the NSW Waratahs to a precious victory — in front of Prince William and Kate.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were on hand at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night as the Waratahs’ crown jewel crossed for his ninth try of the season.
Prince William and Kate had been in Brisbane earlier on Saturday, but jetted back into Sydney in the evening to catch the Super Rugby clash.
They didn’t have to wait long to be entertained, with Folau’s try coming less than 30 seconds into his long-awaited comeback match.
Showing no signs of rust, Folau ran a perfect line to pick up an inside ball from Adam Ashley-Cooper to cross under the posts after just 28 seconds.
Folau’s early five-pointer proved to be the only try of the match, as the Waratahs hung tough to outlast the Bulls 19-12.
