KURTLEY Beale was forced to withdraw from this week’s Brisbane Global Rugby Tens with an elbow injury, though he should be fit to start the Super Rugby season in a fortnight.
The Waratahs centre arrived in Brisbane with his teammates on Wednesday without any sling or bandages and is confident of recovering soon after damaging his elbow during a training session last week.
“I’m absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to take the field [in the Tens],” Beale said.
“I’ve been looking to this tournament from the moment I re-signed with the Waratahs. It was going to be a real highlight of the season, so I’m bitterly disappointed to miss out.”
This would have been Beale’s first appearance in a Waratahs jersey since leaving the franchise in 2016 to play in England.
Beale will travel with the Waratahs and continue to perform his promotional duties as one of the tournament’s ambassadors.

Duco Events Australia chief executive Rachael Carroll said Beale had advised tournament organisers on Tuesday evening that he had been ruled out on medical advice.
“We’ve received a medical certificate confirming his unavailability,” Carroll said.
“It’s a really unfortunate situation.
“We feel for Kurtley and for fans who were looking forward to seeing him back in action in a Waratahs jersey.
“But with players like Curtis Rona and Drew Mitchell lining up there is no shortage of star quality in what is a very strong Waratahs squad.
“Kurtley has been a great ambassador for the tournament.
“We’ve loved working with him and will continue to do so this weekend.”
The tournament is being held at Suncorp Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
