QUEENSLAND Reds captain James Horwill has quit Super Rugby to take up a post World Cup deal with Harlequins.
The three year deal was announced this morning at Ballymore.
Horwill, 29, has been a pillar of the Reds pack for almost a decade.
He steered the side out of the cellar and was the inspiring figure who led Queensland to the 2011 title.
But recent seasons have brought new challenges in the shape of knee and hamstring injuries, and last year’s loss of the Test captaincy.
Playing with the freedom of the decision lifted from his mind could refresh “Big Kev” in his bid to regain his Wallabies starting spot at next year’s World Cup in England.
