Australian rugby star Charlotte Caslick has cemented her status as the world’s best sevens player after winning a second consecutive player of the year award.

After a banner year for the team, which included Commonwealth Games gold and their sevens World Cup and World series triumphs, Aussies filled three of the top four spots, with Caslick coming out on top.

Caslick’s teammates Maddison Levi and Faith Nathan were recognised for their impact on an all-conquering season that came after the disappointment of being unable to defend their Olympic title in Tokyo.

“I think we‘ve just had a really fun year,” Caslick said after she was presented with her award by Prince Albert.

“We have a great group of girls with Maddi (Levi) and Faith (Nathan) also nominated, but the whole squad has been awesome all year.

“As a group, we‘ve really reflected on the past 18 months from the Tokyo Olympics and that disappointment and really turned it around.”

Caslick wasn’t the only Australia‘s only winner at the World Rugby awards ceremony in Monaco, with Wallabies winger Marika Koroibete included in the men’s 15s Dream Team of the Year.

Koroibiete was the only Wallaby in the line-up that feature more Irish and South African players than All Blacks.
