Picnic rugs, iron on badges, cooler bags, baby certificates, backpacks and VIP parking.

These perks may sound frivolous but club memberships are big business and only getting bigger.

More than 1.26 million AFL memberships were sold in 2023 and despite the cost of living crunch, clubs are aiming even higher.

After a stunning finish to last season, Carlton wants to hit 100,000 members next year.

The Brisbane Lions want 60,000, Geelong is targeting 90,000, Hawthorn is after 85,000 and Melbourne and Sydney are both eyeing 75,000.

To get there, every club is throwing up perks well beyond a seat for home games.

Every club offers digital memberships, providing a subscription to Kayo, and access to in-house videos and content.

All 18 clubs also offer interstate or absent memberships, for those who can’t go to the games but want to be part of the cause.

Fremantle has the most expensive single membership publicly available, offering VIP parking, food, nibbles and top seats to watch games from The Dugout, all for $6160.

Meanwhile, GWS Giants players or coaches will get on the phone to some members during the season to keep them in the loop and Sydney offers a player chat at a specific cocktail party for its top-end fans.

To find the best bang for your buck, we asked every club for their best deals, new packages and member targets for 2024.

All prices listed are for an adult for an entire season, unless otherwise indicated.
