Power 100: The most influential women in sport revealed

In boardrooms across Australia, some of the most influential voices driving change are women. See where they rank alongside our top athletes in the Power 100.

From negotiating the biggest broadcast deals in sporting history to being a global face of football, women are leading the way for Australian sport.

Female athletes, executives and administrators are among the most powerful and influential figures across all sport.

In our special edition of Insight Sport, we have identified the most powerful names shaping the future of sport in Australia.

Leading Australian businesswoman Katie Page says while there is still room for growth, both in female representation at executive levels and in pay parity of the elite codes, the discussion around women’s sport has evolved.

“I think it’s obvious now not just in Australia but globally that women’s sport, with whatever code that is, is taking its rightful place. You can’t stop it now,” Page said.

“In five years’ time it will obviously be a lot bigger than it is now.

“You have sporting codes that may be lagging a bit that will get the support that they need.

“What makes it greater is it’s not when you have one sporting code that’s doing so well, it’s when you’ve got all of them doing well for women.

“All of those women, whatever they choose to do, they have the same opportunity as men.

“(Pay parity) is up to the sporting codes obviously but you’d be a brave sporting code not to be remunerating your female players the right amount and what they’re worth.

“That’s the other thing that has changed … that conversation is now an open conversation.

“The community wants these women to be paid what they’re worth, end of story.”
