New Port Adelaide forward Joe Richards has announced his engagement to longtime love Maddi Clark.
The Power recruit and his partner shared the happy news on Tuesday night, posting a series of snaps together at the beach on social media.
The couple, who have been dating for over seven years, captioned the photos: “Here’s to forever darls”.
The newly-engaged pair were immediately inundated with congratulations from Richards’ past and present teammates, including Collingwood’s Jack Crisp, Brody Mihocek and Isaac Quaynor, and Port Adelaide stars Zak Butters, Mitch Georgiades and Ryan Burton.
Richards, 25, played nine matches for the Magpies before he was traded to the Power at the end of last year.
Ms Clark told The Advertiser in October that it was a “shock” when Port Adelaide made a move for the small forward.
“The interest from Port was a shock at first, we never thought this would be where his football career went,” she said.
“To be recognised and wanted by Port was surreal.”
But Ms Clark said the couple, who met in high school, were thrilled to be making the move to SA.
“Very excited for the move, we have always looked at Adelaide as an option so it’s exciting to take the next step,” she said.
“I’m keen for a slower lifestyle and to live near all the beautiful beaches and wineries.”
