They might not be champions of the world – yet – but they are champions of one of the most extraordinary sporting events in NSW.

The Pasifika Cup youth rugby is done and dusted for the fourth straight year and it’s been a resounding success – and reached new heights of popularity.

Around 40,000 rugby fans attend the event in western Sydney which started on Friday and ended with a series of grand finals on Sunday.

In-between there ere hundreds of games played by more than 17000 young rugby platers representing their country and heritage proudly.

“That was just so my fun,’’ said Scarlett Miller who was asked to play with some of her Fijian teammates at the Manly Mermaids.

“I just really loved the culture aspect and out of the field it never felt vicious, just good rivalry.

While it is at full capacity in terms of numbers and teams right now, the event is growing in popularity each year.

“I played last year but I think it was better this year,’’ Miller said.

Below we take a look at the winners and grinners across the age groups and see who the team crowned Pasifika Youth Cup champions for 2025.

UNDER 12S

Samoa took out the Pasifika Cup under 12 boys title with their 19–0 win over Tonga.

Julius-Ridge Vincennes Tiatia was the star of the show for Samoa with two tries.

The other tryscorer was Quentin Moefaauo with Uriyah Metcalf kicking two conversions.

In other results on Sunday Fiji beat Koori 20–7, Koori beat the Barbarians 31–0, Fiji beat Maori 36-5, Tonga beat the Cook Islands 48–0 in their semi-final and Samoa beat the Solomon Islands 24-0 in their semi.

Samoa recorded a whopping 55–0 victory over Tonga to win the 12 girls competition.

Harata Failuga Jahnke Tavana scored three tries in the match with Ve’a Tevita nailing four conversions in two stand-up performances

In some earlier games in the under 12 girls competition the Barbarians beat Fiji 42–10 and Maori beat the Barbarians 25–15.

UNDER 13s

Samoa’s winning run was stopped in the under 13s when Tonga emerged victors with a 7–0 victory.

In earlier matches Tonga beat the Cook Islands 19–0 in their semi-final while Samoa did a job on Koori for their 42–5 win

In other matches in the under 13 boys on Sunday, Newcastle Pasifika beat Maori 36–7, Maori Tama beat Fiji 14–7, Newcastle Pasifika beat the Barbarians 14–0, Samoa beat Koori 42–5 and Tonga beat the Cook Islands 19–0 in their semi-final.

UNDER 14s

Samoa were back to their winning ways in the under 14 girls with the side beating Maori 12–5.

In other results on Sunday, Samoa beat the Cook Islands 27–O, Maori beat Tonga 7–0 and the Barbarians beat Fiji 26–12.

Ciara Viliamu and Chantelle Schmidt-Saneke both scored tries for Samoa in the match with Qryslah Silva making a conversion.

Tonga came out on top in the under 14 boys with their 14–5 defeat of Samoa.

John Fetalaiga and Don Taylor Sefanaia both scored tries in the decider.

In earlier under 14 boys games, Tonga beat the Barbarians 26–10 in the first semi-final and Samoa beat Maori 26–10 in the semi. Koori beat the Cook Islands 14–12.

UNDER 15s

Samoa and Fiji met in the decider of the Pasifika cup under 15 boys competition.

Fiji came out on top, winning the match 12-5.

Khan Jackson and Ezekiel Stanley-Ligaiviu both scored tries.

Earlier Tonga and Maori battled for supremacy in the third v fourth playoff. Tonga came out on top with their 12–0 win.

UNDER 16s

Samoa and the Cook Islands won through to the finale of the under 16 boys competition

In one of the closest deciders of the day Samoa came up with a 10-7 victory.

Jharall Sione and Asera Peniata both scored tries in the final.

In earlier matches in the under 16 boys on Sunday, the Cook Islands beat Maori 22-7, Samoa beat Koori 43–0 and Fiji beat the barbarians 26–15

In the girls under 16 competition, Tonga and Maori battled for the overall title.

But it was Tonga who took the chocolates, beating their rivals 27–5.

Talita Haumono starred for Tonga with two tries.

In earlier matches Fiji beat Koori 45–5, Tonga defeated the Cook Islanders 20–7 and Maori beat Samoa 17 – 12 in their semi-final.

UNDER 18S

Fiji beat Queensland Samoa to keep the under 18s boys title in NSW.

Fiji’s Jarryd King, a rising star of rugby, scored the winning try in the 7-0 win.

In earlier matches in the boys competition, Māori beat Niue 24–0, the Cook Islands beat Koori 22–7 and Fiji beat Samoa 7–0.

The under 18 girls crown was decided by a battle between Queensland Samoa and Fiji

Fiji took the win, beating Samoa 10-5.

Lusiana Vesikula and Ava Moran both scored in the final.

Earlier in the day Queensland Samoa beat the Cook Islands 29–7 in semi-final two and Fiji defeated Samoa 10–7 in their semi.

In other matches Maori beat the Barbarians 17–12 and the Cook Islands defeated Fiji 12–10.
