Hockey champion Eddie Ockenden is the latest Australian Paris Olympian to officially retire after a fifth Olympic appearance in Paris.
While some athletes are starting to turn their attention to the next Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028, many other Australian Olympians have said ‘au revoir’ to their sporting careers after the Paris Games.
Ockenden and Australia’s most successful Olympian, swimming superstar Emma McKeon, headline the list of Paris athletes to have called time on their career.
McKeon announced her retirement in late November after finishing with 14 Olympic medals – the most of any Australian – across three Games.
