America are going all out for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and it’s going to be a seriously hard act to follow for Brisbane 2032.

Queensland Premier Steven Miles sparked fierce backlash over plans to host swimming events at a temporary stadium as part of the Brisbane Live entertainment arena to be built at Roma Street in the city centre with $2.5 billion in funding from the federal government.

Calls for the state government to create a legacy with a permanent swimming facility fell on deaf ears and now America has shown Australian Olympic organisers how it’s done.

An image posted to X, formerly Twitter, shows off the stunning transformation SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will undergo to host swimming events in 2028.

The stadium has played host to some of the biggest sporting events and musical acts in the world, but will undergo its biggest makeover for the Olympics.

With the stadium set to host the opening ceremony, the swimming will be pushed to the second week of the Olympics with the athletics getting underway in the opening week.

World Aquatics announced the blockbuster move which will allow 38,000 fans to be in attendance for the swimming.

The announcement comes off the back of the success of the US Olympic trials for the Paris Games which took place inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The stunning images of what the revamped stadium will look like for the Olympics left a bad taste in the mouth of Aussies far and wide.

News Corps’ Emily Benammar wrote: “Cool, this will help make Brisbane 2032 look even more like a school carnival if they don’t remedy the lack of investment.”

SMH’s Vince Rugari wrote: “Brisbane should pull out of 2032 ASAP because it’s gonna suck following this.”

3AW producer Laurence Rosen wrote: “Well, this is going to be insane. All eyes on you, Brisbane 2032.”

Aussie pool queen Ariarne Titmus was left gobsmacked in March by state government plans to ignore pleas for a world class swimming centre for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

Titmus told News Corp she hopes the bean counters put athletes first.

“The biggest legacy they could leave behind would be an Olympic training centre and I cannot believe that building a (permanent) pool is not on the cards. I just think there needs to be a pool put into the plan,” she said.

“I really hope that with all these discussions around the Olympics, the athletes are put first and remembering why we took on the Olympic Games to create a legacy and build our city and inspire the next generation of athletes coming through.

“I really hope that that is at the forefront of decisions. But I really have no power.’’

For now all eyes will turn to the Paris Olympics which get underway on July 26 and run through until August 11.
