RADIO’S voice of cricket Jim Maxwell is undergoing tests in hospital after falling ill during an Olympics broadcast on Tuesday in Sydney.
Maxwell is being assessed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital after he became unwell during a commentary stint.
The 66-year-old has called more than 270 Test matches and six World Cups on the ABC since starting up with the network in 1973.
Maxwell is one of the most recognisable voices in Australian sport, and is synonymous with the summer of cricket.
ABC head of sport Nick Morris said his thoughts were with Maxwell and his family as he wished him a “swift recovery.”
