While Tevita Pangai Jr.’s future remains in the balance, there is a new major concern surrounding his current deal with the Brisbane Broncos.

Reports emerged earlier this month that Pangai-Junior’s $650,000-a-year contract at Red Hill would be ripped up after he broke the NRL’s strict biosecurity protocols.

But now The Sydney Morning Herald reports there is a fresh drama surrounding his current contract.

According to The Herald, Pangai Jr is set to meet with officials with the NRL’s integrity unity on Zoom on Monday over third-party deals.

The 24-year old is concerned about missing payments with claims he is the one pushing for it to be investigated.

The Herald reports that sources claim the missing cash totals a significant six-figure amount.

It comes after Pangai Jr sat down with Fox League’s James Hooper for an exclusive interview on Friday to touch on a variety of subjects, including his future at Red Hill.

Pangai Jr was adamant then that he owed a lot to the Broncos and was desperate to repay their faith in him.

“I owe a lot to the club. I came here as a 19-year-old boy and they helped me become the person I am today,” he said.

“I’ve grown as a person and they’ve stuck by me. I’ve come off contract a few times and could’ve left for more enticing offers down south but I love living in Brisbane and love the club.

“We have the best fan base and the most memberships in the NRL and I love playing for the Broncos.

“I don’t like to take a backwards step, but I need stability on and off the field. Everything starts at home for me, I need to have a tunnel-vision focus on my football and family and what’s important to me.

“I am really sorry to you [Broncos fans] for letting you down on and off the field. I won’t break protocol again and I want to try and compete on the field but within the rules. I am keen to get back and fulfil my potential and do my best for the club.”

It comes as The Courier-Mail reportedPangai has finally been sent a second breach notice detailing his alleged series of COVID protocol breaches.

The report from journalist Peter Badel reveals Pangai will face the Broncos’ board of directors on Friday to explain why his contract should not be torn up.

According to the report, Pangai was served his second breach notice on Friday after the club failed to include his alleged breaches in the first notice which has since been recalled and tossed out.

Pangai will meet the Broncos with his legal team still hoping to save his reported $2.1 million deal which runs through to the end of the 2023 NRL season.
