Coach for a day: Warriors must harden up mentally to succeed

HOW do you harden the Warriors up mentally?
Plenty of coaches have tried. And failed.
Although the way they dipped out of playoff contention this year in Round 26 -- thumped 40-18 by an Eels outfit with nothing to play for -- was a new low.
And proof of what has long been the malaise of these perennial under achievers.
Certainly, as coach, you would be doing everything required by the NRL to guarantee the signing of Kieran Foran.
Despite his recent off-field troubles, Foran remains one of the grittiest players in the code.
Indeed, the 26-year-old has a knack of getting his pack forward, even if it means taking a hit up himself and embarrassing the big men into it.
If anybody can teach this Warriors outfit how to win tough, it is him.
Better, Foran’s own direct playing style will provide a huge boost for the mercurial Shaun Johnson.
Ditto the returning Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
