YOU just can’t keep John Hopoate away from his Manly Sea Eagles SG Ball team.

Despite the threat of a hefty fine and the docking of competition points, Hoppa turned up at Brookvale Oval on Saturday afternoon to watch his boys in action.

He sat in a box with league immortal and Manly’s football general manager Bob Fulton, just a metre or two away from where his replacement coach was calling the shots.

Manly is refusing to back down in a fight with the NRL integrity unit to get a clearance for Hopoate to continue coaching.

The former bad boy might be banned from coaching but he’s about to dust off his old footy boots to play in a Hybrid rugby game next weekend.

Hoppa will turn out for the Avalon Bulldogs against the Newport Breakers at Warringah rugby park on Saturday afternoon.
