NRL heavyweights Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters are to clash again at Adelaide Oval next season.

Inspired by the huge success of this year’s decision to bring a “home” game to South Australia, the Roosters have confirmed they will host a game in Adelaide for the next two seasons.

They will take on the Storm, the reigning champions, in round 16 in a night battle on June 29.

The two high profile clubs attracted more than 21,000 fans to the Adelaide Oval contest in June this year when the Roosters conquered the Storm 25-24 in enthralling confrontation.

“We’re excited to be returning to Adelaide Oval,” Roosters coach Trent Robinson said.

“There was a great atmosphere at our game there this year and the match definitely delivered in both quality and theatre. So we’re looking forward to seeing that support continue to grow over the next few years.”

The Roosters beat the Storm on the back of a stunning Mitchell Pearce field goal in extra time.

However, Pearce won’t be with the Roosters next season after leaving the club in the wake of the signing of champion half back Cooper Cronk.

The world cup winning Cronk has quit the Storm after 14 seasons and four premierships and the Adelaide Oval game will be his first against his former club.

Cronk did not play in Adelaide this year, given it was only three days after the second State of Origin game. Superstars Billy Slater and Cameron Smith were also missing from the Storm line-up. Next year’s game will be five days after the second state battle in Sydney, although Cronk has retired from representative football.

The Roosters will also play a game at Adelaide Oval in 2019.

And in a repeat of this year’s exercise, the Roosters will have a series of clinics in Adelaide in the lead up to the game. They have also released a special membership for SA fans.
