CANBERRA’s Emre Guler can stake a claim for having been on the receiving end of the best jumper presentation for an NRL debutant.
Most rookies are handed their first jersey by a club great, generally of a similar position or pedigree.
The bullocking 20-year-old became the 353rd player to don the lime green of the Raiders, and it was his mother who was given the honour of presenting her son with his first game day strip.

Guler’s mum broke down during her speech in front of the team prior to t he Raiders’ 14-12 upset victory over the Roosters, while giving special thanks to coach Ricky Stuart and his assistant Brett White.
“It’s an emotional time for a mum who can only dream of their kid to debut in first grade. This is one of the greatest moments for my son,” she said.
“Thank you for everybody who has supported my son. Thank you for the people who have looked after him since coming into the Raiders and into Canberra.
“Thank you so much for accepting him.”
Guler impressed in his first outing in the top grade for the Raiders. Guler was a constant threat in his 28 minutes on ground to which he ran 10 times for 93 metres, while also making 23 tackles.
