NEWCASTLE have released utility back Dylan Phythian after his second breach of the NRL’s illicit drugs policy.
Phythian, who played three matches for the club, must serve a 12-match suspension before he can return to rugby league with any club.
“After conferring with Dylan, the Club has made the decision to terminate his playing contract,” said the Knights in a statement on Tuesday afternoon
“His behaviour is at odds with the culture we are building within the club.
“The Knights will provide him with counselling support during this challenging time.”
The 22-year old last played for the Knights in Round 1 last season when he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
