IT’S still possible to build a red-hot squad that will give you a shot at all of the great prizes in SuperCoach NRL — presented by hipages — without players from the season-opening Dragons v Broncos clash.

Sure you’ll have to wait for promising Broncos cheapies Tevita Pangai Jr, Matt Lodge and Jamayne Isaako but there are still enough bargains to allow you to build a more-than-competitive squad of 25.

Of the guns Anthony Milford flopped, POD Gareth Widdop proved all the naysayers wrong for at least a week and Ben Hunt turned in an impressive debut in the Red V.

But you can still pick up gun halves like Johnathan Thurston, Shaun Johnson, Nathan Cleary, Mitch Moses, Cameron Munster, Daly Cherry-Evans and Mitchell Pearce.

Likewise, top hooker options Cameron Smith, Damien Cook, Michael Lichaa, James Segeyaro and Jake Friend are all on the table as are elite props Sam Burgess, Andrew Fifita and the cheaper Jesse Bromwich, Daniel Alvaro, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Herman Ese’ese.

The same is true for the back row where Paul Gallen, Jake Trbojevic, Jason Taumalolo, and Nathan Brown all still have their hand up and the game’s most popular player Bryce Cartwright is very much in play along with fellow cheapies like Mark Nicholls and Kelepi Tanginoa.

In the CTWs all the options are still there apart from PODs James Roberts and Euan Aitken.

So go ahead, pick which Raider you want from Jordan Rapana, Jarrod Croker and BJ Leilua. Join the crowd and include Latrell Mitchell. And make sure cheapies Sione Katoa from the Sharks and Warriors centre Peta Hiku are in your line-up.

And last, but far from least, you still have plenty of time to splash the cash and install Tom Trbojevic and James Tedesco at fullback.

So get to it and register — you won’t regret it.
