SuperCoach NRL 2025 consensus team: Every player in the experts’ teams

SuperCoach can be time-consuming so we’ve done the hard work for you. Our experts have put their brains together to create the ultimate consensus team.

SuperCoach NRL: Buy, Hold, Sell Vegas Edition!

The 2025 NRL season is just days away and SuperCoaches are scrambling to finalise their teams before kick-off in Las Vegas.

To help ease your anxiety before the first lockouts of the season, our experts have put their heads and teams together to create the ultimate consensus team.

HOOKER

Despite most of our experts being in agreement here, with Sandon Smith and Peter Mamouzelous both in four teams, the real point of difference at the position is Connor Watson. The Roosters No.9 is being started at hooker by two of our experts, while another two have him in the backrow in case the double cheapie experiment backfires.

FRONT ROW

This is another position where our experts are largely in agreement, but with a few points of difference. All of our experts have faith in Terrell May after his move to the Wests Tigers and have him in their team, which is pretty in line with the SuperCoach community given he is in 49.7% of teams at the time of writing. Three of our experts are starting Corey Horsburgh at FRF, while two are starting him in the backrow, but he is in all expert teams. Likewise, four of our experts have gone with Tino Fa’asuamaleaui at FRF, while Rob has him at 2RF. The last FRF slot is split however, with two of our experts going with Royce Hunt, while Sangster has gone with Benjamin Te Kura and DC has Tom Amone.

2RF

As mentioned above, Connor Watson is in four of our experts teams but they are divided on which position they are starting him at. There is a lot of love for Manly enforcer Haumole Olakau’atu, with three of our experts starting with him.

Interestingly all experts have at least one unique player in their backrow. Wilson has locked in Zac Hosking, Sangster has Keaon Koloamatangi, Rob has Mitchell Barnett, DC has Briton Nikora, while the Mastermind Ian Maybanks has three unique players in Reuben Cotter, Jack Gosiewski and Liam Martin.

Where all our SuperCoaches are in near unanimous agreement however is their cheapies, with Kobe Hetherington, Demitric Vaimauga and Naufahu Whyte in four teams (albeit Whyte is split across FRF and 2RF), while Kulikefu Finefeuiaki is in two teams.

HFB

Wilson is the odd one out at halfback, being the only one of our experts going with the double-gun halfback strategy, with the rest abandoning either Nathan Cleary or Nicho Hynes to squeeze Cowboys cheapie Tom Duffy into their teams. Cleary is the more popular of the halfbacks, being selected four times, while Hynes is in just two of our experts’ teams.

5/8

Five-eighth is a fascinating position among our experts, with all five in unison on Warriors halfback Luke Metcalf, while being split on their second choice. Dylan Brown is the second most popular five-eighth here, while Wilson has gone with Alexander Brimson, DC has Matt Burton and the Mastermind has gone with Kaeo Weekes.

CTW

It’s both a bit expected and a bit of a surprise in the CTWs among our experts, with all five locking in four of the same cheapies in Casey McLean, Jaxson Purdue, Sione Finau and Robert Toia, while being totally split on their other picks. Reuben Garrick and Roger Tuivasa-Scheck are both in two of our experts teams, while everyone has at least TWO unique players here. Wilson has Campbell Graham and Gehamet Shibasaki, Sangster has Dylan Lucas, Ali Leiataua and Greg Marzhew, Rob has Beau Fermor and Jack Bird, DC has Jack Howarth and Billy Smith, while the Mastermind has Jamayne Isaako and Izack Tago. Cleary CTW is the position with the most PODs among our experts.

FULLBACK AND FLEX

I have decided to merge the fullback and flex positions here because all five of our experts have opted to run with three fullbacks in 2025, and with the exception of Rob, all of them have gone with the same three players. While the ordering is different, four of our experts have gone with Tom Trbojevic, Kalyn Ponga and Isaiah Iongi, while Rob has opted to pass on Ponga in favour of Reece Walsh.
