Thousands of State of Origin tickets will go on sale on Friday after NSW footy fans were forced to abandon travel plans in the escalating Covid crisis.
Refunds will be issued for some 2500 ticket holders caught out by new travel restrictions barring Sydneysiders from Queensland as the harbour City’s Covid cluster continues to grow.
It means NSW will run on to increasingly hostile territory for the crucial Game II on Sunday night, with many Blues supporters now unable to attend the match.
NSW’s loss will be Queensland’s gain, with the tickets to be placed on sale on Friday after the initial allocation for the 52,000-seat Suncorp Stadium sold out weeks ago.
The tickets will be available on the Ticketek website on Friday afternoon.
